The Karachi Port handled 190,092 tonnes of cargo comprising 118,469 tonnes of import cargo and 71,623 tonnes of export cargo including 9,315 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 118,469 tonnes comprised of 70,302 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,629 tonnes of general cargo; 25,538 tonnes of coal and 20,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.

The total export cargo of 71,623 tonnes comprised of 61,885 tonnes of containerised cargo; 639 tonnes of general cargo; 4,599 tonnes of wheat and 4,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 9,315 containers comprising of 5,141 containers import and 4,174 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

The breakup of imported containers shows 1,699 of 20's and 1,597 of 40's loaded while 100 of 20's and 74 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,887 of 20's and 511 of 40's loaded containers while 87 of 20's and 589 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.

There were eight ships namely Libra, Tubul, SBI Hermes, Sunrise, Liberty Passion, Palmela, Globis Phoenix and Cs Flourish carrying containers, coal, mogas, vehicle and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Hyundai Force, Kota Lagu, Kota Kaya, MT Lahore, Liberty Passion, Palmela, Globis Phoenix, BBC Rhine and BBC Ontario carrying containers, oil tanker, vehicle and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM


A cargo volume of 128,004 tonnes comprising 97,658 tonnes of import cargo and 30,346 tonnes of export cargo including 3,865 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 97,658 tonnes includes 13,500 tonnes of LNG; 24,692 tonnes of diesel oil; 10,636 tonnes of palm oil and 48,830 tonnes of containerised cargo.

The total export cargo of 30,346 tonnes includes 5,741 tonnes of cement and 24,605 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,865 containers comprising of 2,570 containers import and 1,295 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.

There was one ship namely MV Golar Maria carrying LNG sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while two ships namely CV Northern Magnum and MT Chemroute Sun carrying containers and palm oil are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MSC Heidi, CV Northern Magnum, MV Daranee Naree, MV Panorama, MT Golar Maria, MT Contantinos and MT Chemroute Sun were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, cement, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.

As many as nine ships namely CV Marie Delmas, CV APL Antwerp, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Quetta, MT Pitali Lady, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Rainbow Island and MT Horizon carrying containers, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.

There were five vessels viz. CV Marie Delmas, CV Lowland Amster, MV Secon-7, MT British Emerald and MT Rainbow Island carrying containers, coal, LNG and palm oil respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth, Engro Energy Terminal and Liquid Oil Terminal respectively on Wednesday.

There were six ships namely CV CMA CGM Virginia, CV Athenian, CV Hansa America, MV Secon-7, MT British Emerald and MT Al-Soor-II carrying containers, coal, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are three ships namely CV Prosper, CV APL Antwerp and MV Secon-8 carrying containers and steel coil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
